How To Optimize Social Media For Your Small Business

Here’s the truth, the world is spending hours a day on social media and if you aren’t utilizing these platforms then you might be missing out big time!

Did you just launch a new app for your restaurant? Shoe store with no web presence? Is a small bakery attempting to use Instagram to gain their first clients? Listen up and follow these steps.

Step 1. Pick your platforms

Pick two to three social media platforms based where the majority of your customers hang out. You want to shift your focus on these platforms to completely optimize and engage in your following. Is it Instagram? Twitter? Linkedin? Facebook? Pinterest? Maybe you only need to focus your attention on one social media platform such as Instagram. At the early stages, you won’t know for sure. It is best to test the waters to figure out which channel gives you the highest Return on Investment.

Step 2. Post Daily

The goal here is consistency and to form a following for your brand. A key guideline that many businesses use is the 20/80 rule. About 20% of your posts should be about your company and product. The other 80% could be industry news, inspiring quotes, motivational images, photos, articles, or infographics found on the web. Getting your consumers to like, share, and engage your posts is what you need to strive for.  Additionally, relevant and trending hashtags / keywords are important. Make it easy for your target customers to find your content and posts by analyzing current trending topics that are related to your business.

Step 3. Follow people + Interact with others!

Find your target customers and engage in their profiles. Give them a reason to check out your profile and capture their follow/like back on your company page.

  • Social Media takes time. Be patient but don’t give up!
  • Start today, if you don’t you will regret it. These strategies can take months. Start now!
  • DO NOT BUY FAKE FOLLOWERS. You want to develop an engaged and targeted audience. Focus on quality, not quantity.
